Mosaic Pole

In my ignorance I decided to make a mosaic for the garden using some PVC pipe, I learnt a lot along the way!

Both Liquid Nails and the powdered tile adhesive you mix with water seemed to stick the tiles but the ones which fell off  later were those stuck with the mixed adhesive.

I’ll never use PVC pipe again because even now I can’t be sure the pieces won’t fall off. Someone did tell me attaching fly-wire to the pipe would have given the adhesive more holding power but they told me that after I’d finished.

The rocks are around the base to deter my dog from scratching her back on the pole, I’m sure it wouldn’t be long before she’d dislodge tiles.

I’m a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. I prefer to be outside and am interested in photography, nature and different cultures. I believe everything on this earth has a right to be here but some things and some people would be happiest if their space was far away from mine. (Flies and biting bugs take note!) I don’t like housework and think dust is Nature’s way of saying, “This is my space, I was here first.”

    1. If I’d known what I know now I’d have used old clay pipe as the base but if I couldn’t get some of that I’d put the fly-wire around the pipe first. I was given the pipe and did think it was ideal before the problem showed up. Hope you have great success with yours.

    1. Glad you liked it, only time will tell if the tiles stay in place. I feel that as long as I get to enjoy it for a while it will be OK. Thanks for commenting.
