The recent death of Desmond Tutu saddened me, I loved his humour and his ability to overcome opponents with wit, honesty and determination, I think he was an inspiration to many. Another person who I admired was Fred Hollows, a larrikin Australian surgeon who restored sight to the blind in poor communities, his legacy continues. I think David Attenborough is a living legend who inspires so many to think about their impact on the natural world in an attempt to make things better.
There is another person though who will never be famous, who’s face will probably never appear on TV but she’s been an inspiration to me. She was about 8 years old when I met her and despite finding walking difficult because of her Cerebral Palsy she never opted out of anything, her face beamed when she bettered her previous efforts at running or using a computer. CP wasn’t the only thing to make life a challenge, she was also profoundly Deaf and her family not financially comfortable.
Her courage, determination and absolute joy at living were wonderful to see, she has been a true inspiration to me.
Glad I found you, Sue. I’ve been looking for a few days 😂
That’s great, I’ve been referring back to a previous message of yours to find your link to the prompt of the day. Don’t know why there are no emails or the site appearing in my reader. Weird.
Very weird. Although I got an email today.
